Scrum and XP from the Trenches

by Henrik Kniberg

This is one of the most pragmatic books I’ve ever read. Actually, this is more of a handbook. As the title suggests, it outlines how the author uses Scrum and XP1 to ship software. There is no theory here. Almost every chapter titled is something like “How We [Do X]” and includes specific things the author implemented in his company to release quality software. After reading this book, you could put almost everything you read into practice.

If you want to stop thinking about Scrum, and want to start doing Scrum, pick up this book. You can order a hard copy or download a free electronic version from the book’s web site.

1 Although XP is in the book’s title, there is only one chapter that specifically addresses those practices. It is heavily geared toward Scrum.
