Lowdown: Liked it. Nothing new or original here. I’m sure that wasn’t the case when it was published. Always fun reading about Ninjas and Wolverine.
I’m a big Frank Miller fan, and didn’t realize until a few years ago that he had drawn this series. According to the foreword, before this storyline, Wolverine was a second-tier character more known for fits of rage than depth. I think this limited series spawned a monthly Wolverine book, which is still going strong today.
The story is satisfying, the art is good. If you enjoy Wolverine and samurais, you’ll probably want to pick up a copy. Otherwise, use your library. I love the Wolverine character, but I didn’t enjoy this book enough for it to find a place on my shelf.
